Joomla.org provides an installation package on their website that is easy to use. Installation using this method is recommended.

Part 1 - Get the Installation Package

1. Go to http://www.joomla.org.

2. Click on the Download Joomla button.

3. Save the zip file (this is a compressed file containing all the files and folders used for Joomla including a sample database of content).

4. You can extract (unzip) the files in this compressed file onto your computer and upload it, or upload the zip file to your webserver and unzip it there. See: How To Unzip a File. You can transfer files to your webserver using an FTP client or a file manager provided by your webhost.

5. A MySQL database will be needed for the installation. To create a database on your webserver, see the Create a MySQL Database tutorial.

6. Go to the frontend of your website with your browser (http://www.your_domain.com) and continue the installation with the Joomla's Standard Installation Package Part 2 tutorial.
