Joomla uses a one-way encryption on passwords, so you cannot recover a lost password, however, you can reset it to a new password.

There are several ways to reset your Admin password.

1. If your site allows user registration, you can use the Lost Password feature to reset your password. You will need to know the email address used on your user account for this.

Go to your website: http://www.mydomain.com/?option=com_user&view=reset where "mydomain.com" is your website name, and follow the directions for resetting your password. For step-by-step instructions and video tutorial, see Reset Your Password Using Joomla's Lost Password Feature

2. If the above Lost Password feature is not available or does not work for your situation, you can reset the password in the database. Update the password field in the #__users table using MD5 encryption. For step-by-step instructions and video tutorial, see Reset Admin Password
